Chauvet's new LEDs dim with an external dimmer

Oooh, this is cool. Chauvet has introduced two new LED fixtures that dims with an external dimmer, instead of needing DMX directly, though you can dim it that way, too: This is a really brilliant idea, because you just directly swap your old Altman ellipsoidal or Fresnel onto the circuit and get the full benefits of LED, without needing to run a DMX line up to the unit. I hope this speeds along adoption of LED tech, because all those incandescent lamps burning waste so much energy that it’s almost obscene. The faster we can get rid of incandescent, the better.

When I’m sitting doodling thinking about a particular theme, the design that emerges from that is largely use-agnostic. That is, it could be adapted for just about anything a client would like to use it for – a house of worship, a conference, a theatrical production, whatever.
