Via Negativa II

Via The Creators Project on YouTube comes a fascinating piece of art reflecting (ha, ha) on themes of self and self-awareness. From the description: Experience Lee Bul’s Via Negativa II, a maze of fragmented reflections that ends in a final contemplation chamber lined with brilliantly illuminated infinity mirrors. We sit down with the Seoul-based artist as she describes the intense and disorienting journey through her installation and the philosophical perspectives of self awareness behind her exhibit. Like much fine art, it’s in New York, so I won’t be able to see it anytime soon, but The Creators Project video makes me want to experience it firsthand.

Drones flying through fireworks is incredible

The difficult-to-pronounce Joe Stiglingh recently attached a GoPro camera to a remote-controlled helicopter and flew the contraption through a 4th of July fireworks display. The results were, frankly, amazing: The GoPro YouTube account also got in on the action: Frankly, I’m amazed that his quad-copter didn’t get severely toasted, but I’m glad, because it’s an amazing angle that I don’t think I’ve ever seen fireworks from, even during the few times as a pyro shooter I’ve had shells go off too close to my head.
