Recently, Blueshift Design contracted to provide lighting and set design for The Judds: Girl’s Night Out residency at the Venetian in Las Vegas.
This is one of my favorite shows that I’ve ever done to date, not only because the Venetian is a very beautiful theatrical space with a large and well-maintained rig of moving lights, but I had weeks ahead of time to sit down and painstakingly program the songs, allowing lots of time to really dig into the music and interpret it from a lighting standpoint into a show that not only showcases The Judds in the best light, but helps bring the space to life. This show was really about timing, thoughtful use of visual “blank space”, and above all, lighting the talent well for video.
